Bio

Michelle Li is currently a 16 year old living in the midst of suburbia. She is enrolled at Herricks High School where she is in a gifted arts program called STAC. She has also worked with artists at Ashcan, attended Pratt for their summer pre-college program, and studied with notable traditional Chinese artist, Bing Chen.

Through her art, Michelle hopes to communicate the constant search for identity. Growing up as a first-generation American born Chinese in an immigrant household, she struggles with finding a balance between the two cultures. Michelle often finds herself juggling the traditional aspects of her Chinese roots and the modern American world that she lives in. While she enjoys dabbling amongst all creative art forms, she mainly sticks to visual art.

She draws inspirations from the era of Art Nouveau and is in constant admiration of Post-Impressionist artists. Traveling in and out of the 5 boroughs of NYC, Michelle is also always on the hunt for new experiences (and good food), along with opportunities for budding artists.

When she's not involved in school, she's off baking, shooting photos, drawing, playing video games or simply surfing the web.
